Instructions:
Some great instructions are available here
Mine is sized differently than on the very helpful website because I used thicker yarn. The rope I used was not too malleable and I needed thicker yarn to hold it in the basket's shape.
Ch 38 for the foundation row. Hold the rope as though it is a loose end you are trying to hide. Sc across until the last ch.
Be sure to incorporate the rope as you work your sc's. To do this, insert your hook into the foundation ch, working in front of the rope, yo and pull through from the back of the rope, yo, pull through two loops.
3 sc in the last ch. Turn your work upside down and sc across the bottom of the foundation chains. This part can be a bit clunky to work with and be sure you pinch the fold of the rope tightly to avoid a large gap.
Continue working in this manner (sc across, 3 sc in the 1 sc on each edge of the oval) until you reach your desired length and width. To work the sides up, stop increasing on the ends. Working in the top loops only, sc across and continue working in the round until you reach your desired height.
Once you get the hang of this, it's a really quick project and makes for convenient storage.
