This pattern uses a technique called knit under the loose strand. It may be helpful to watch a few videos demonstrating the stitch before you start.
Finished Measurements:
Circumference - 18 inches
Brim to crown - 8 inches
Materials:
1 skein ontheround Everyday Fingering, Colorway: Rebel
Size 2 circular needles (16 inches)
Size 4 circular needles (16 inches)
Size 4 double pointed needles
Stitch markers
Gauge:
24 sts and 32 rows = 4 inches using size 4 needles
Stitches:
K - knit
P - purl
Sm - slip marker from the left needle to the right needle
Pm - place marker
Sl - slip unworked stitch purlwise from left needle to right needle
K1 uls - knit 1 under loose strand - slip your right needle under the loose strand knitwise from front to back, knit the next stitch on the left needle as normal, and bring that knit stitch out from under the loose strand

K2tog - knit two stitches together (decrease)
Instructions:
Using Size 2 needles, CO 120 sts. Pm at beginning of round
Rounds 1-11: *K1, P1.* Repeat from * to * until end
Change to Size 4 needles
Round 12: *K1, Sl 5 with yarn in the front.* Repeat from * to * until end
Round 13-15: K across
Round 16: K3, K1 uls, *K5, K1 uls.* Repeat from * to * until last 2 sts, K2
Round 17: K across until last 2 sts, slip 2 with yarn in the front
Round 18: Sl 3 with yarn in the front, *K1, Sl 5 with yarn in the front.* Repeat from * to * until last 3 sts, K3
Rounds 19-21: K across
Round 22: *K1 uls, K5.* Repeat from * to * until end
Round 23: K across
Repeat Rounds 12-23 two more times, then repeat Rounds 12-22
Crown Decrease:
Round 24: *K22, K2tog, pm.* Repeat from * to * until end
Round 25: *(K1, Sl 5 with yarn in the front) x3, K1, Sl 4 with yarn in the front, sm.* Repeat from * to * until end
Round 26: *K to 2 sts before marker, K2tog, sm.* Repeat from * to * until end
Round 27: K across
Round 28: Repeat Round 26
Round 29: *K3, K1 uls, (K5, K1, uls) x2, K4, K1 uls, sm.* Repeat from * to * until end
Round 30: *K to 2 sts before marker, K2tog, sm.* Repeat from * to * until last marker before the beginning of the round, K to last 5 sts, Sl 5 with yarn in the front
Round 31: Sl 3 with yarn in the front, K1, *(Sl 5 with yarn in the front, K1) x2, Sl 4 with yarn in the front, sm, Sl 3 with yarn in the front, K1.* Repeat from * to * until you work the last marker before the beginning of the round, (Sl 5 with yarn in the front, K1) x2, K3, K2tog
Rounds 32-34: Repeat Rounds 26-28
Round 35: K1 uls, *(K5, K1 uls) x2, K3, K2tog, sm, K1 uls.* Repeat from * to * until after last marker before the beginning of the round, (K5, K1 uls) x2, K3, K2tog
Round 36: Repeat Round 26
Round 37: (K1, sl 5 with yarn in the front) x2, K1, (sl 3, sm, sl 6) with yarn in the front, *K1, sl 5 with yarn in the front, K1 (sl 3, sm, sl 6) with yarn in the front.* Repeat from * to * until last 10 sts, K1, sl 8 with yarn in the front, K1
Rounds 38-40: Repeat round 26
Round 41: K3, K1 uls, *K5, K1 uls, K1, K2tog, sm, K3, K1 uls.* Repeat from * to * until last 9 sts, K5, K1 uls, K1, K2tog
Repeat Round 26 until there are 20 sts remaining
Round 42: K2tog across
Cut yarn and pull tail through remaining sts. Weave in ends and enjoy!
